Artist Bio
The 3148s (thirty-one forty-eights) are an indie rock band with an approach to music that sounds like Americana run through an alt-rock meat grinder. Their rust belt mix of punk, blues and grunge hails from Detroit, Michigan and will appeal to fans of artists like The Tragically Hip, Black Keys, Hootie & The Blowfish and Counting Crows.
“Relatable, discussing the struggles of modern times with a fun, yet classic feeling.” - Upstream Indie
Since forming in 2015, The 3148s have carved out a presence in the Detroit music scene with their raw, resonant songwriting and high-energy performances. They've supported touring acts like The Pack A.D. and Bluphoria, made multiple appearances on Fox2Detroit, and been steady contributors to their local music community. Their annual fundraiser Lawlapalooza, held at the iconic Magic Bag, has raised over $40,000 for charitable causes.
Their debut EP, recorded at Rust Belt Studios, broke into the Top 100 on the College Radio Charts. In 2024, The 3148s took their sound on the road to Austin, TX for showcases during SXSW — with more touring ambitions on the horizon.
Their latest double-single, also recorded at Rust Belt and mastered by The Animal Farm in London, showcases the band’s evolving sound. “Cabin Fever” is a frantic, high-energy punk track channeling the isolation and bite of dark Michigan winters. Its B-side, “The Enchantress,” builds on the success of earlier single “The General,” introducing progressive and hard rock elements into the mix.
The current line up features Ian Coote (guitar/vocals); Jason Seifert (bass); Greg Jones (guitar/vocals); and Tom Jones (drums).

“The adrenalized alt-rock-meets-punk instrumentation on “Cabin Fever” does anything but drag. The band’s fearless electric guitar, thumping bass, and charging drums pulsate alongside Jones’ angry vocals.”
-
“With their signature sound, “Cabin Fever” is both urgent and unhinged—with hooks, pounding beat, and over-the-top vocals.”
“On the B-side, “The Enchantress,” is the next chapter in The 3148s Martian Space Opera. It follows up on the unexpected success of their single “The General,” which took on a life of its own with airplay across Mexico City and South America. This new track expands the band’s influences (garage rock, Americana and grunge), adding progressive/hard rock structures to their sound.”
-
“From there, we gracefully hopped all over the place, genre-wise, beginning with some high-energy alt-rock from The 3148s (pictured above), with one of their new singles, “Cabin Fever” — something we can all relate to in the depths of a cold Michigan February.”
-
“The standout feature of this single is its unyielding intensity, rivaling the sheer power of "Guillotine." The drumming groove is masterfully produced, rendering it irresistible to the ears. The electric guitars and bass display enhanced precision, while the vocals explore diverse tones, including elements of spoken word. In its entirety, "Fire at the Meetinghouse" solidifies The 3148s' reputation for delivering energetic and authentic roots rock music. I highly recommend giving this a listen!”

"Fire At The Meetinghouse" stands out with its captivating chord progression and memorable vocal melody. The chorus's ascending melody evokes a grand and anthemic atmosphere, while the verses are propelled by sharp, emotive vocals reminiscent of the legendary rock/metal group, Rage Against the Machine. The vocalist's impressive range allows him to seamlessly transition between styles, showcasing his vocal prowess. The Iron-Maiden-esque roars in the chorus exude an indescribable raw power that leaves a lasting impact.”

“Their latest single is “Fire At The Meeting House” and right out of the gates, you get the band’s over-the-top sound. A wall of wailing guitars howls deep into the night as sirens swoop in. Once the male lead’s vocals come in, you’re already hit with a blast of music and you’ll definitely never be the same again.”
-
“‘Guillotine’ is an absolute banger. There’s no other way to put it. That dark, threatening outro feels like the opening moments of a wild western showdown, and the way that buzzing guitar bursts into the mix is just utterly brilliant. Combine that with the pumping drum beat, and you’ve got yourself a powerful intro. But wait, there’s more — along comes the biggest surprise of the track, which is the spoken verses, bordering on rapping, telling a tale of the bourgeoisie and hard times. The chorus is a punk anthem, and there’s another absolutely scorching electric guitar solo at the end of the track. Two for two; these are brilliant tracks.”
-
“With these three songs, The 3148s have done a remarkable job of honoring their biggest inspirations by filtering roots rock through other genres. Give this a listen. Recommended.”
-
“This is a really original sounding song. It takes a number of different styles and makes it feel natural and organic. I also thought the guitar solo hit all the right notes.”
-
“The 3148s is the kind of combo that brings a vintage sound, full of intense footprints, with magnificent fuzz on their guitars, bass screaming bass everywhere, drums marking heavy and wonderful vocal lines and very characteristic that make Guillotine a of this year's best releases.”
-
“Making a setlist is always a blast as we really have a common goal of putting together a show that is just as fun for us to play as it is to listen to.”
-
“What we love most of The 3148s ‘Picture of You’ is that they reminded us a lot of 90s americana/alternative rock underdogs Ass Ponys. Powerful, honest and straight from the heart!”
-
“Starting from solid and melodic indie-rock bases built by decisive and powerful guitars and a delicate piano, the American group also lets in influences from Americana, while the great passion of the vocals brings them closer to Craig Finn's Hold Steady: energy and emotionality in large doses!”
-
“Indie rockers The 3148s latest track ‘Beck and Call’ right from the first note caught my interest. With high energy classic rock style music this song is destined to be a crowd favourite. Love the guitar riff! It is one of those songs that makes me want to get up and dance while singing the lyrics loudly. Add in unique sounding vocals and a relatable meaning, of doing whatever the one you love wants, ‘Beck and Call’ is a must listen to song! ‘Beck and Call’ would be an insanely great song to see live!”

“A Detroit based band comprised of a group of trial attorneys, The 3148’s have a bold Alternative sound. They are currently preparing to release their second EP, titled Sanctuary, on March 26. This EP features the song “You Never Let Me into Your Arms,” which has a fun, yet classic feeling sound to it. This track begins as a smooth acoustic ballad before taking off into a bold new sound entirely.”
